Luighi
Luighi made a decisive impact for New York City FC after joining the Club on loan, and continued his strong form in September.
He scored against the New England Revolution at Yankee Stadium before finding the net again in the 2-0 road win over Real Salt Lake. His well-taken finish in Utah helped the Boys in Blue secure an important victory and capped a productive month for the 20-year-old.
The Brazilian’s physical presence has added another dimension to the attack, while his work rate and intelligent movement have made him a difficult opponent to contain. He will be eager to build on his bright start as the season enters its final stretch.
Nicolás Fernández Mercau
Nico Fernández Mercau continued to show his quality in September, starting all five of New York City FC’s matches and making an impact in attack.
His technical ability and creativity remain major assets for Pascal Jansen’s side. He registered an assist against the New England Revolution, then followed it with a memorable goal against Real Salt Lake. His curling strike from distance set the Boys in Blue on their way to an important 2-0 road win and added another standout finish to his collection.
Fernández Mercau’s consistency and ability to produce decisive moments have made him a key figure for the team throughout the season.
Agustín Ojeda
The 2026 season has been a significant one for Agustín Ojeda in a New York City FC shirt. The winger’s speed, creativity and dynamic runs from the right have caused opposing defenders problems all year, and September was no exception.
Ojeda featured in all five of the team’s matches and recorded four assists during the month. Against Real Salt Lake, he helped create the opening goal before delivering a low cross for Luighi to finish and secure the 2-0 win.
He was influential again against Atlanta United, forcing an own goal for New York City FC’s opener before setting up Andrés Perea to put the team back in front. Now with 12 MLS assists this season, Ojeda’s consistent creativity and ability to shape games have made him one of the team’s most influential attacking players.
