All of the key soundbites from those in the home locker room after NYCFCâs 1-1 draw with Montreal on Saturday afternoon.
Patrick Vieira on frustrationâĤ
âWeâre really frustrated because I think we should have won this game and taken the three points because of the way we played and the number of chances we created.
âBut that is the game of football. If you donât take your chances then you leave the door open for the opposition.â
Patrick Vieira on Rodney WallaceâĤ
âHe loves the game, heâs working hard in training, in the game. Heâs got a really good attitude in the dressing room, all the players love him.
âI like his character and he did really well in the league. He won the title so he knows how to do it. Heâs got good experience as well. But what I really love about him is the way heâs competing when heâs on the field. He can score goals and he can do a lot of things.â
Patrick Vieira on Ethan WhiteâĤ
âWhen you look at the game Ethan played today, I think he was quite really solid,â Vieira said. âPiatti didnât create much. He had only one chance where we hit the post because we lost the ball in the midfield. I was pleased with the defensive side of Ethan. Iâm quite lucky because I have two really good right backs.â
Rodney Wallace on solidityâĤ
âOverall, I think we played a good game â it was disappointing not to get the full three points which I thought we deserved. I thought we were very solid in defense and at the end of the day we didnât lose the game and thatâs a positive to take away. We have a very strong team and weâre getting used to each other every week.â
Ethan White on competition for placesâĤ
âI think we did well defensively other than for the [last] play of the half where Piatti hit the post and obviously the goal. I think those were the only chances we gave away.â
âItâs always good to be rewarded for good play, but itâs not over. Thereâs good competitors in my spot and Iâm just going to put in the work and make it hard for the coaches.â
Alex Ring on missed chancesâĤ
âWe had chances in the second half too. To score 2-0, I donât think you can blame it on the early chances, the later chances.
âThe most important thing is we have been creating the chances in every game. Itâs just about being effective and aggressive in front of goal to kill the games earlier.â
Maxime Chanot taking the positivesâĤ
âWe scored one goal today, four goals last week, we should have scored goals two weeks ago against Orlando. I think the feedback is not so bad. OK, at the end weâve got only four points. But I donât think itâs so bad. Letâs see whatâs going to happen next week.â
Jonathan Lewis on his NYCFC debutâĤ
âAt the end of the day, Iâm learning. Iâm still young and I can learn a lot from players at my position like someone Jack, whoâs young like me or someone like Rodney, whoâs very experienced and David. Just learning from them coming off the bench and playing the ten minutes, Iâm still learning and getting that experience. Itâs going to help me grow as a player.â
