Weâve got a new entry in our My Favorite Player SeriesâĤ
So far weâve learned the favorite players of Jack Harrison (Ronaldinho), Khiry Shelton (Thierry Henry),Ethan White (Carles Puyol), Ronald Matarrita (Ronaldo),Sean Okoli (Zlatan Ibrahimovic), Sean Johnson (Edwin van der Sar), Tommy McNamara (Stephen McPhail), Shannon Gomez (Phillip Lahm) and Jonathan Lewis (Cristiano Ronaldo).
Today, itâs the turn of Maxi Moralez, who arrived in the offseason from Club Leon.
Our newest DP goes with a man who he trained alongside and is generally held up as the greatest player of his generation.
Of course, itâs Lionel MessiâĤ
Maxi on MessiâĤ
"I've only trained with him and I remember it to this day. I can see why he is considered the best in the world"
Lionel Messi: The Greatest?
Is he the greatest of all-time?
Messi is certainly in the pantheon of greats alongside Diego Maradona and Pele but at the age of 29, the frightening thing for defenders all over the globe is that he still has more to come.
The diminutive Argentina forward has defined a generation, winning every club and individual prize the game has to offer on the Spanish, European and World stage.
The only thing missing from his collection is international honors, though heâs gone close, reaching the finals of the World Cup and Copa America.
Thereâs very little to add on Lionel Messi aside from a list of tired superlatives but here are a few records he holdsâĤ
- Most FIFA Ballon dâOrs (5)
- Most consecutive Ballon dâOrs (4)
- Top Goalscorer in La Liga History (319)
- Top Assist Provider in La Liga History (130)
- Top Goalscorer in Club competitions in a season (73 goals)
- Record goalscorer for Barcelona (475 goals)
- Record goalscorer for Argentina (56 goals)
Not bad.
